  • Gibbon Falls

    Although Yellowstone Falls is main sight in the park, Gibbon Falls offers a great view with little effort. The viewing area is only a few yards from the parking lot.

  • Excelsior Geyser Crater

    Across from the Grand Prismatic Spring you will find the Excelsior Geyser Crater. The turquoise water is stunning when you get a glimpse through the steam.

  • Artists Paint Pots

    A half-mile walk from the parking lot leads to the boardwalk for Artists Paint Pots. The area is colorful and contains many bubbling mud pots and hot springs with crystal clear water.

  • Mammoth Hot Springs

    You can spend hours exploring in this area of the park. To access the hot springs there are both boardwalks and hiking trails. Elk are also frequently spotted in this area.

  • Norris Geyser Basin

    This popular area has two main parts: porcelain basin and back basin. Many colorful springs and steaming geysers are in Norris Basin.

  • Driving in the Park

    Driving is an event in Yellowstone. As you drive the rim of the caldera or into the basins, there are vistas at every curve. Be aware of traffic jams caused by wildlife in high season.
